Mission Critical is published by Mission Critical OU, the company behind missioncritical.me. This policy explains what the Mission Critical app collects, why, and your rights.

The short version

The app works anonymously. You can read The Daily every morning without creating an account, and most readers do. We collect the minimum needed to deliver the briefing, we do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no third-party tracking.

What we collect

Nothing, by default. No account is needed and no personal details are required to use the app.

Push notification token. If you allow notifications, your device is issued an anonymous token so we can deliver the 07:00 briefing alert. It identifies the device, not you, and is deleted when it stops working or when you disable alerts.

Email address, only if you add it. You can optionally add your email in Settings to receive the briefing by email. Sign-in is a 6-digit code sent to your address; there are no passwords. Your address is used to send you the briefing and, only if you separately opt in, occasional additional briefings. You can withdraw either at any time in Settings.

Preferences. Your chosen theme and settings, stored so the app and emails match.

Usage analytics. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand how the app is used: screens viewed, features used. Analytics are pseudonymous: they use a random identifier, not your name or email, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who processes it

We use a small number of service providers to run the app: Supabase (database and sign-in), Resend (email delivery), Expo with Apple and Google's notification services (push delivery), and PostHog EU (analytics). Each processes data only on our instructions. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it

Push tokens are kept while notifications are enabled and pruned when they expire. Your email and preferences are kept while you have an account. Pseudonymous analytics are retained for product improvement.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can access, correct, export or delete your data. Deleting your account and data takes one tap: Settings, then Delete account. This removes your email, preferences and sign-in from our systems. For anything else, contact us at the address below and we will respond promptly.
